The <ul> html tag

Overview The <ul> HTML tag is used to specify an unordered list. It works in the same way as the <ol> tag but by default shows each list item with a bullet point instead of a number. This can be styled with CSS. The <ul> tag is used to indicate the whole list. Within this tag each list item is listed using the <li> HTML tag. This can also be used in conjuction with the <a> HTML tag and is the accepted way to define navigation links over table based HTML layout options. It works equally as well in table based layouts as well as CSS based ones. When text is put between the opening and closing <ul> tag it is displayed as a table caption text. Googletastic Google has always promised internet nirvana by the lure of free web based services and applications, but in recent time this free lunch has always been accompanied by an expensive hangover. When Google offered the chance for all websites to be listed on their monolith of a search engine, they unleashed the horde known as SEO, which ultimately ensured either website owners employing the services of specialised companies to promote websites or for companies to go through hoops to do the same. Even today SEO can be a lucrative revenue stream for those companies who offer that service. Every time Google release an update to its search engine, there is ‘gold rush…

Case Study – Carterton Community Centre

The Carterton Community Centre is a local meeting place for the residents of the Shilton Park development in Carterton. To coincide with its completion in 2008 an initial website was commissioned as a central focus for the centre online. Built with no end user access meant anytime the site needed updating it required the original web developer to complete the update. Two years on and the Centre is now flourishing with daily activities and a real buzz of excitement. With the website out of step with the centre, prompted its management team to look for a new solution. By visually updating the feel and redeveloping the site as a CMS, has meant real freedom for the centre in terms of where they can take the website online. Built in to the supplied solution is the ability to add open source pugins and with its integrated blog means the centre now…
