Web design Banbury is Websites by Mark

Web design Oxford, We know the best way to market you online, do you?

You can stop now, welcome to Websites by Mark

Just about everyone in business has a website but the question is, do they work?

Yes, technically they all do. What I mean is, do they fulfil the objectives you’ve set your business?

For example, does it drive feet through your show room door, get people calling your sales team, send through loads of email enquiries?

Websites by Mark looks beyond the visual aspect of a website. We consider the objectives you’ve identified and build sites that will help you achieve them.

We also take care of the little things like the technology that is used and the overall visibility of your message online.

The other nice thing is, we don’t charge an arm and leg to do it either!

Micheal Dobson, ex professional footballer has been trading under the name Flexercise, offering bespoke fitness programmes for everyone.

Using a free website creation utility he had managed to create a basic website to showcase his business.

Like most websites created in this way, it had failed to provide him with a professional front end to enhance his online business and generate real revenue.

Micheal felt it was important that he was able to create, maintain and develop his website without specialist help.

After the inital consultation, Websites by Mark was able to help Micheal by not only providing some visual elements for his revamped site, but also was able to offer some guidence about how to get the best out of these free resources.

Since our work together Micheal has been able to create a site which not only looks more professional but also is more engaging and is easier to use.

Apple to buy Google

In a shock announcement Apple has bought a controlling share in the Internet giant Google. Apple has cited its reason behind the purchase ‘To expand from the digital desktop to a centric focused digital lifestyle’. Also in its announcement, were plans ‘within a reasonable timescale’ to phase out Google Checkout with all services being transferred to its ‘ITunes Store’. There is some speculation that the Store will now face some re positioning due to Apples new focus. Where does this leave web users and competing companies like Microsoft. Safari, Apples flagship web browser is due for a major upgrade in the Q3 this year, with the introduction of its I-Game and I-See Safari Web based plug-ins. Both these Safari only plug-ins will integrate game and music content direct into the safari browser for a totally seamless entertainment experience. People not using Safari will not have access to this killer functionality,…

Apple iPad, Killer content or content Killer?

When Apple announced the iPad on the 27th January 2010, many things were expected. Like all rumour based predictions, some came true and some not. But a low powered tablet based computer without a keyboard, webcam or even Flash, is this really the future or has Steve made another Newtonian error? We call it the iPad Positioning the iPad as a device somewhere between an iPod and Laptop, Steve Jobs is once again trying to define a new genre of interaction between user and technology. As with a lot of Apple release kit, Steve has embraced the idea that Eye Candy engages users and well designed gadgets actually overturn conventional thinking and build brand confidence. What is odd about this latest offering from Apple is technology that was expected but is missing. After all this should be a killer way of interacting on social networks like Facebook, but with no…

The <tt> html tag

Overview In HTML the <tt> tag is a little unsual and is not often used due to its quirky apperance, in short the font mimics that of a teletype machine. The <tt> tag is one of the original ways to format text and more recently CSS and other tags have reduced the importance of this tag. It is still a good tag when used correctly. When text is put between the opening and closing <tt> tag it is displayed as tt text. The <tt> tag can be used multiple times on a webpage and can be nested inside other tags for dramatic effect. Basic Usage <tt>Some tt text</tt> Any text between the opening and closing tag will be displayed as a large heading. Advance Usage It is possible to style and add functionality to the <tt> tag, this is done by adding an attribute to after the tt in the…

Facebook – Saint or Sinner

With over 350 million users worldwide, Facebook is one of the most used sites on the internet. With its roots firmly in social networking there’s nothing that can’t be done with a Facebook account these days. But with reports of Stalking, Suicide, Rape, hate crimes and child grooming being linked with Facebook should we now look elsewhere to gather on the Internet? If you build it they will come In 2004 Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saverin came together and Facebook was launched. Facebooks initial aim was simple, let people communicate with each other with as little fuss as possible. As time went on more features and functions were added until recently when Facebook was opened up for anyone to develop an application for the platform. This one act allowed thousands of bits of functionality to be added to a user’s page, which in turn made Facebook…

Im going on a browser hunt, Im not scared

Google recently made the decision to end support for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for its online office based applications. What wasn’t shouted quite so loudly was the ending of support for Firefox 2 and Chrome 3. In an online world where technologies evolve on a daily basis, should we worry about when old technology standards die or should we embrace in a lemming like state anything Google or Microsoft choose to throw at us? It’s alive With the invention of the internet as we know it today it wouldn’t be long before tools to view this brave new world became available. The pioneers were Microsoft and Netscape, but these were not the only ones, but due to Microsoft bundling its browser with its operating system Windows, it quickly became the browser of convenience for all but the very determined. But Microsoft was never going to have its own way…
